Meaning Behind The Logo

When wanting to create my logo all I knew for sure was this photo in the background was the one I wanted to use for my logo. I had other ideas in my mind but was never fully sure how they would add to the logo until I saw it but those ideas never actually made it to this logo so I'm happy that I was able to work with somebody who was creative and able to throw together many different options so quickly so I could find my perfect logo.

I've been looking for a logo for about a year but was never fully sure as to how I wanted it to look. All I knew was that I wanted my logo to have A LOT of meaning behind it. Just like any photo I capture on my phone or camera..there is always a story to be told whether its good or bad. Just like this logo there is a story behind it and it makes me love my logo more and proud to use it for all upcoming projects.

So what is the actual meaning behind this logo, well here it is..

1) Is that you in the photo?

The most asked question I have received and the answer is YES!! This photo is actually from one of my last days in Ubud Bali after my YTT. This photo was taken at sunrise as my friend and I ventured out to the beach for a yoga photo shoot and as soon as I saw

this photo I knew right away it was my favorite and that it was going to be apart of my future logo.

2) Why did I choose this pose as my logo?

I have always admired this pose as being an elegant pose and it has certainly been one I have grown into over the years and one that I will be able to continue to grow in. I remember the day I first ever practiced this pose and how far away it even seemed to look "elegant". I used a strap just to be able to get my leg up half way but quickly fell out. The day I was able to flip my grip was a huge milestone but learned against a wall. Next goal will to be able to get a hold of that foot with both hands.

3) What is the meaning of the pink?

Yes it has more meaning behind it then me just loving bright colours, in fact colour wasn't even in my original plan but Sara just knew I needed it. So pink represents caring, passionate, love and understanding. Also known for giving and receiving and can be a sign of hope. It is a positive colour that inspires warm and comforting feelings. These can all be found in a yoga practice or can eventually be found over time.

4) The Symbol of The Pink?

The pink around it I have referred it to the circle of life. The meaning behind it is going through life and when you die you will give your life to someone new.  I see it more as a way of representing my path to get to where I am. Every little choice I made circled me to this path.  I may have not known when I first started yoga that it would have led me to Bali or to teaching yoga or even doing what I can to make a fun business out of it but I’m sure happy I have found this path. The circle will never be complete as there will always be room to grow..even with every big or little mistake I make a long the way but I know I will always have my family & friends support within my circle.

The other cool meaning behind the circle of life is that “Circle Of Life” came from the movie The Lion King and when they sing the song, they sing it in Zulu language which is the language they spoke when Morgan and I were in South Africa at the Zulu Lodge and we were taught some when we went to a village to see how some of the Africans live and to a community school to visit the students.

I feel this logo represents so much of my growth and proves that everything takes time to come out exactly the way its suppose to and when one thing doesn't work in the beginning you know its for a reason so something better can come along.

Who Is The Designer Of The Logo?

Sara Birley - Sara graduated Graphic Design at Mohawk College and has been a friend for a few years. We actually met working at Tim Hortons in Paris and through social media we kept up with each other. Through mutual friend I found out she had taken Graphic Design and reached out to her about creating a logo. Sara was very quick to get some ideas up and going so i could see what I wanted. She was always sending different options so I could see how different logos looked, whether it was different font for the name or different background then the pink. Sara was easy to work with and very understanding of ideas thrown at her. Ideally She came out with the design of this logo and now I have a logo I love.

If you are looking to get in touch with her for your own graphic needs you can reach Sara at saraabirley@gmail.com

I hope you've enjoyed learning a little bit more about the start of business and the meaning behind my logo. Thank you for taking the time to read this blog.
